Our Story
IGOR KOVALCHUK, MD, PHD, MBA
Igor Kovalchuk is a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Lethbridge. He is an expert in plant genetic engineering, including plant transformations, tissue culture, next generation sequencing, gene expression analysis, bioinformatics and molecular biology.
He holds 8 patents in the area of improvement plant transformation and tissue culture. He has long-term expertise in linking basic science to the needs of industry through collaborative efforts with universities and government labs across the world and through the interactions with various small and large biotech companies.
DARRYL HUDSON, PHD
Dr. Darryl Hudson received a PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Guelph, Canada in 2010. He has published research in diverse fields including plant biology, genetics, epigenetics, DNA repair mechanisms, and carcinogenesis.
With the announcement of the new commercial Cannabis program in Canada, Darryl transitioned full-time into the medical marijuana industry. He now primarily works as a consultant and researcher helping producers in many countries to optimize genetics, cultivation processes and quality assurance protocols in the Cannabis industry.
In addition to participating in a recently published Cannabis genome sequencing project, Dr. Hudson been breeding specialized new varieties of Cannabis for both the medical marijuana and agricultural hemp market.
